The most memorable hiking adventure I had was one I took with one of my closest cousins. It had been a long time we had seen each other and we decided we wanted to go on a hike and catch up on our lives. We got a good work out and bonding time. I also got to go at a place I had never gone before where the site was wonderful. There were even rocky caves where we went in a took pictures. It was tiring but it was all worth it as the park was beautiful and the good thing is that there are a lot of trees which meant a lot of shade.

Which was your most memorable adventure?

For me it was the time when my parents took us to the Chocolate Hills in Bohol. That was one adventure I will never forget. Now I have a trip planned to Kepler Track, South Island and I can't wait. That will hopefully replace the previous trip as my most memorable one.

You didn't mention the food, where and what you ate during the hike. I am interested in food because it is natural to get hungry. When on a hike or even leisurely walk, water or anything to drink is imperative but with food it is not. So did you buy food along the way or did you bring your own snacks or meal?

Good point food is very important. Since there was no food near the area we went to we opted to take our own food and drinks. It was nothing over the top but enough to keep us full and give us energy for a few hours. We mostly took snacks though such as bananas, apples, and a mix of nuts and dried fruit. For our lunch we took ham sandwiches with a side of a chicken salad. We ate it at the benches available under a huge tree. Of course we took water and made some green juice to take.

We actually had a camping trip that was in the worst snowstorm that the area had seen in about one hundred years, and it was pretty intense. For whatever reason, though, despite the wet socks, it made it more enjoyable and we got through it with some good stories.

Mine was a day trip on the Routeburn Track during winter. Winter is off walking season, therefore, there weren't many people on the track. It's not advisable to do the whole track in winter, so my partner and I decided to just do a little bit of it. We did just a short 5 hour return hike and found it quite rewarding. I'm looking forward to going back to finish the track one day.

My most adventurous and difficult one is still the one I did in Leh and Ladakh a couple of years back. It was middle of the May in 2010 when we decided to take a 4 days trekking trip in Leh from Spituk village to Zinchen then to Yurutse that take 6-7 hours of trekking up Ganda La pass and then down to Skyu. But trekking those 6-7 hours a day is lot more difficult compared to walking 24 days non stop in normal area. I think doing that trip is almost impossible for me again.

Wow! That is a beautiful place I hope one day you do get to go back and finish that adventure. I would like to go there someday and experience a new place. I have yet to hike near a river or lake and maybe stop there to have a picnic. Looks like a relaxing place to me but I can see why it wouldn't be too safe during winter.

We having big group here for hiking and we go for it many times. But the one experience I will never forget is when we went for hiking for one day and we lost in the jungle and we had spent night there with camp fire. At that day we climb many small hills to find the route but didn't get any success. At the end we had to stop as it was late evening time and we was barely able to move because all were tired. And also because of late time visibility was very low. But it was great experience.
