Have you experienced trekking on a muddy trail that is slippery? It was fortunate that I was wearing leather combat boots which was able to keep my traction. Most of my companions suffered a fall from involuntary sliding on the muddy trail. It's very uncomfortable to be walking with muddy clothes. That was a neat lesson that we should not dare trod on a muddy trail for it may just cause accidents.

Well, it sounds really uncomfortable. Actually we avoid go for hiking during rainy season or such place where we found such way. So I have no more experience. But once I remember that during hiking we faced rain and that make us really uncomfortable as route became really slippery . And yes we don't have good boot for us either. So it was bad experience for all of us.

I have multiple experience of muddy trails and had them all without any intention while trekking in Himalayan region. The worst of them was the one when we had taken a downward rout along a dry nullah (riverbed) while coming down from China Peak in Nainital and it suddenly started raining very heavily. The water flow was so fast that it was hard to walk a few steps. My friend and I decided to come out of the nullah and walked on the sides which was so muddy and slippery that we had no choice but to stop until it stopped raining.
