What gear to bring in a strange campsite

Postby Alexandoy » Tue Mar 14, 2017 12:43 pm

For usre you have a basic gear when you go camping. Aside from the tent, you have the torch (or flashlight), water container, etc. But when camping in a strange location, what more do you bring in addition to the basic gear? Weapon is the first thing on my mind. It can be a gun or a knife or even a night stick that I can use to defend myself. We don’t know what’s there in the dark, so to speak. Especially when the campsite is in the forest, that would be conducive to wild animals that could attack you. First aid-kit is not part of my gear so I would proabably bring a first-aid kit in anticipation of animal bites or injuries caused by animal attacks.

Before camping in such any strange place I would like to know what the environment is like. What lurks around and what are the suprises and shocks for me I would like to know in advance. Unless it is a car breakdown or such an unfortunate event, then a compass and a toolkit plus a knife and rope makes essential part of the kit.
