Convenient cooking in family camping

Postby Alexandoy » Tue Apr 04, 2017 11:14 am

Next month we have a schedule family camping in a resort campsite that has a swimming pool. The accommodation are tents (we bring our own) and the only facilities aside from the toilet/bath is the barbecue area. What we usually do is to bring the portable gas stove that includes a small gas tank. It is very convenient for cooking since we don’t need to start a fire and make an improvised stove. I understand that a portable gas stove looks corny for camping but I am usually the one assigned to cook so I don’t care about the image. What I need is the convenience in cooking.

Carrying a portable gas stove is a good idea until you don't have luggage problem. It will surely ease out things and make cooking fast and easy.

It is a good option and I wish you all have a good time there.

Gas stove n cylinder works just fine. However, I have seen people using charcoals and primuses.

In more advanced set ups with electricity one may use an electrical stove or grill too.

Charcoal or wood gives the feeling of camling though in my opinion lol. Its labourious but what's a camp without efforts.

I like the way they provide cooking facilities in most parks/picnic spots here in Australia. One can take full of advantage BBQ in any such spots with good number of facilities available almost everywhere. People love their family outing with pre-cooked meals and spending hours cooking and eating in wide spread parks.

Camping with the family, especially with kids, is magical, and when we get to cook at the end of the day and see them eating that delicious food prepared outdoors makes it even better. It's a natural life, it's where the best memories from life come from. :)
I love most outdoor activities!

A portable gas stove is the perfect solution to cook in places for camping because it's very practical.

In addition, being able to cook in the family (including children) is a lot of fun. Everyone helping and laughing at the same time is a great experience to live (and I can say that because I've cooked that way several times).

Enjoy the family. 8-)

A portable gas stove is a good idea as you can cook your own meals and have the same taste as in the home. Kids will especially enjoy this and preparing meal along with the natural air, clean water, the bird's chirping environment combined give a great experience.

Whenever we have been camping, we have also used the portable stoves that you can buy from most camp equipment specialists. I think a lot depends on where you are actually going camping though, and if we have set up camp in a remote area that's away from everyone, we usually try and go down the traditional route of building and using a fire to cook on.

A lot of designated camp sites though obviously don't allow that, and so the portable camping stoves are about the next best option if you want to experience real camping, without resorting to using the local on-site cafe for your meals!
