A big tent for all
A big tent for all
Have you experienced camping with a big tent that has a capacity of more than 10 people? There was a time during my boy scout days that we had a huge tent that provided shelter for 15 boys including our scoutmaster. We felt so secured because all of us are inside in one big tent unlike when we were using pup tents with a capacity of 2 boys. This big tent is ideal for family camping. And I remember posting 2 boy scouts by the entrance of the tent to be our security guard. Popular tents now are the small ones like the pup tents of yore which is good for 2 people only.

My family and I purchased a Suisse Sport Mammoth Dome Tent last Summer from Amazon. There is always a lot of us that go camping and fishing, so we needed something with a little more room. This tent was a great purchase, it sleeps 6-8 people and has a divider so you feel like you have some type of privacy. It definitely is ideal for family camping.

I have always used the pup tents while camping. These allowed 3 people maximum with squeezing in. Ideally it is fir 2 people.
Sometimes in summer we use netted tents, to sleep on an open area and these are also small catering for just two people.

A big tent is preferred by me when compared to small individual tents. They are better from security point of view. I feel safe and secure in them.
Moreover the quality time spent there is also appreciable and a memory for life.

Yes, I've had this experience. But I definitely didn't like it because I was surrounded by strange people (and most of them were very annoying) in a very boring place.
I think If I were with people that I knew or who were at least cool people, maybe I would have had a better experience.
But in overall, I like my privacy so... Those types of collective tents are not (not at all)for me. I don't intend to go through such an experience again.

Only once have I ever had to sleep in a multiple occupancy tent, and it wasn't the best experience so something I would try and avoid doing again. While a lot does depend on who exactly you're sharing the tent with and for how long, you really don't get any privacy and that is an issue for most people including myself.
Maybe I was just unlucky because when we went the weather was atrocious so it wasn't as if the tent was only used to sleep in, that I could have handled but because the weather was so bad we ended up spending a lot of time in the tent, and the conditions was cramped to say the least.
