Re: Camping in a strange place with no guide

@jahanzeb ali qureshi I generally go to new camping locations but I make sure that the place is safe and I will not be alone there. In fact, there are are very few places where I go repeatedly like my favorite camping destination near Rishikesh in Uttrakhand state in India otherwise I try to go to a...

Re: Camping in a strange place with no guide

I have been to different camping locations with my friends and relatives in strange places but never took the services of any guide so far. I agree that I have never been to camping alone during my childhood days including during school time so maybe I missed the thrill of getting scared at night :)...

Re: Planning the meals

You reminded me of our Indian sponsored community trips that we do by hiring 32 seater deluxe coaches. We take two helpers along with us who take care of serving the prepared food and make tea etc where ever we find a suitable place on the way. Most of such trips are of maximum 2 days duration and w...

Re: Camping Fears

I am enjoying reading your posts guys. I am a regular camper with experience of camping in different areas like jungles, on the river banks, at the sea beaches and hills. My most camping experience is in regular camping areas where people spent lot of time dancing and singing until late and then goi...

Re: Deep sea diving

I am a perfect swimmer and not afraid to go for deep sea diving. However, I must add here that if you have scuba diving in your mind here it needs no great swimming skills. Deep sea diving is perhaps the easiest form of swimming provided you have self-confidence or that part of the sea is not full ...

Re: Do you have a favorite brand of bike?

There are number of goood brands here but I have an Avanti Road. In fact almost all good brands available here are almost the same but I got this one at almost a throwaway price at gum tree. I was looking for a Kona bike but settled for this one as it cost me only $450 :)

Re: What do you leave behind after a campout?

I must admit that you get all kind of people with their own concerns and feeling of responsibilities. As far I am concerned I always carry a black and green polythene bag as per guidelines of the local government to collect and dispose the trash in proper way. We have self imposed as well government...

Re: Kind of tent

Yes we generally use "The so called pup tent" when we go to beaches etc which provides us privacy and keeping our belongings while going for a swim but I have not yet bought a bigger tent as these are available at almost every camping spot. I have considered to buy a bigger tent at times b...
