Re: Enjoying a nice highway

I agree with you although generally speaking you have far better highways in your state. As far we are concerned we have number of super highways coming up in our area but when I look at the toll charges it makes me shiver. For traveling a short distance you have to shell out as much money as the co...

Re: Climbing a peak with no gear

That depends on what level they are climbing from sea or what is the difficulty level. In general anything beyond 6000 meter is almost impossible without proper equipment or climbing gear. Climbing higher than that would even require oxygen or breathing support. So I assume that these groups are doi...

Re: Hiking with lots of stuff

I have walked for 18 days continually in Leh and Ladakh but that was in the past but I don't think I would be able to repeat that trip now because a trip like that would be too much for me now. I mostly do 2-3 days' trip now in easier but interesting areas with lots of stays on the way. I have just...

Re: Hiking with lots of stuff

Actually what I said was that I would carry anything which is absolutely must and avoid anything which I carry just for the sake of carrying that I may or may not need. I know what is must and what is a luxury on hiking trips because during a long walk especially in difficult terrains weight is an ...

Re: Hiking with lots of stuff

That sounds a nice idea but I am not the one that would not carry anything which is absolutely necessary. I generally go for longer hiking trips or in hilly areas where weight on your bag/back makes a great difference. Oh, yes I can do that if I am going for a professional trip and I have the facil...

Re: For how long?

I generally spend 2-3 hours for road biking although I am no more a regular on biking lately. I used to go for long rides in the past but I have done that seldom in recent times. I agree that now I have better opportunities and a better bike but due to shortage of time I go for a long biking once in...

Re: most memorable hiking adventure

My most adventurous and difficult one is still the one I did in Leh and Ladakh a couple of years back. It was middle of the May in 2010 when we decided to take a 4 days trekking trip in Leh from Spituk village to Zinchen then to Yurutse that take 6-7 hours of trekking up Ganda La pass and then down ...
