Climbing in inclement weather
Climbing in inclement weather
I understand that climbing is a dangerous activity because of the probability of accidents. That is the reason why some mountains that are popular for climbing are closed during the off season particularly when the rains have arrived. Have you experienced climbing when it was raining? I don’t think it’s a good idea but I know that some people are always finding new challenges in their sport. And some climbers have the temerity to climb even when there is a typhoon.

Re: Climbing in inclement weather
I confess I've tried it (many years ago), but the experience really wasn't so good.
Thank God, no accident has ever happened to me (and today I realize how reckless I was at the time
), but in uncertain climates it's better not try to challenge the mother nature, because she know how to end a party.
Although I love adventure, safety always has to come first.

I prefer yo stay sage rather than to opt for adventure. According to me , it is never wise enough to take risks with life and that too deliberately. Do if I know or feel that things might turn out unfavourable then I prefer to take a back foot rather than to test my bravery and skills.
Re: Climbing in inclement weather
I have climbed uphill during heavy rain but not intentionally and to be very frank my climbing does not come in real climbing category but going uphill in difficult hilly terrain in Himalayas. It has happened with me at more than couple of times when I was in difficult hilly area. It does rain a lot in hills unexpectedly and once it starts raining it rains for a long time and if you're in the middle of an trekking/climbing session it's not an easy task to cope with that.

I don't think it is good idea to climb during rainy season. It should be closed for sure. Due to slippery stones and other things people may face terrible accident during that. So why to take such risk. Here we don't used to go for trekking and hiking too during rainy season. As even easy route may became dangerous during rain.
