Distance or off-road?
Distance or off-road?
I love riding the bike, and most of my riding was made in distance, meaning, I went from one place to the other, sometimes camping overnight, a great experience. I have friends that prefer off-road, meaning, they go to a specific place to make downhill or to jump with the bike, something entirely different. What do you prefer or do?
I love most outdoor activities!
Re: Distance or off-road?
I really like biking routes so I guess that would be considered off road. My family and I used to go to such routes every now and then and even if we traveled very long and was so tiring it was one of the best experiences I have ever had. I love that there are down hills that will help me rest along the way after pedaling for so long.
Re: Distance or off-road?
Well, honestly I have never try for long distance on bike. In past I used to go on it within city only. But I have not used it since many years. And biking on off road is sounds really interesting. I have never tried it but I have seen it on TV many times. I would love to try out, but I guess we need proper practice before directly going for it. I don't want to break my bones for sure. lol
Re: Distance or off-road?
I recall the first time I went for a relatively long ride with my bike, I took the tent with me for a 70km ride, and it was a memorable one. Camping was awesome, a beautiful sunset, I thought that I could be there forever, but the next day it was raining, so the dream collapsed haha.
I've tried some off-road too, but nothing too much, even if once I got hit with the bike in the face after falling.

Biking routes are great and always yield great or/and funny stories
. I like it a lot but unfortunately I don't have that much time to practice them (I definitely wanted to have more time to spare
).
They have a very special meaning in my life (it's something quite inspiring
). For personal reasons they're very important to me.
So many good memories come to my mind right now.

O jesus, riding 70km with camping gear is exhausting! @to7update you're doing great.
I would love to try off-road. But I then need to find suitable route, gears, and possibly some companies to go along for safety... not easy to make it.
Re: Distance or off-road?
Thanks @woodstock, but this was back when I was 17 years old lol, now I am 40 and I wouldn't dare to do it!
More, at that time my tent was super heavy, it was not like this light ones that weight nothing, so it was too much. I've done a bigger ride with camping gear a few months later, and finally the body broke down and I returned by train.

Re: Distance or off-road?
When I was younger I used to go mountain biking rather than road cycling, but that was usually part of our camping trips rather than just to push ourselves like a lot of people do. There used to be a group of about 7 or 8 of us and we'd drive to a rural area with all the camping gear and bikes, then park up and then ride a few kilometres into the middle of nowhere then set-up camp there.
As I've got older (I'm 39 now) them days are behind me, and as others have said, riding a bike and especially over rough terrain is something for the young, and these days while I do still go cycling, I do it more to keep fit more than anything and it usually involves a summers day and a pint of cold beer at the end of it!

Re: Distance or off-road?
I ride bike seldomly nowadays the fact I do not go too far kilometers with it. Let me say my most covered range is around 15 to 25 kilometers. Somehow this is not activity I like doing often these days as adult. During teenage days it was a great fun such that in a week I do go biking at least three times. Whenever there was a bike in sight then it was time to go biking again.
Re: Distance or off-road?
I used to join short distance rides when I was young. But it was only for fun and not really serious. Some of my friends are veteran riders that they can ride as far as 100 kilometers. But I haven’t tried that because I’m not really good in cycling. Besides, my bike is the ordinary bike for strolling around town. But I would love to bike in off-roads like hillssides. I had been to one province here where the hills are like manicured lawns. And then I saw some bikers there, I was really envious.
